5 Health Benefits from Water

As a medical professional and with summer upon us, I feel compelled to remind everyone to drink plenty of water as we spend more time enjoying the beautiful outdoors.  It is obvious that God intended water to play a vital role in the sustaining of mankind.  When He designed the earth, He made it so that approximately 70% of the earth’s surface is water.  Likewise, when He made us, He once again designed it so that as adults 70 % of the human body is comprised of water.    Here is how we think water fits into our anatomy and physiology:

  • Muscle consists of 75% water
  • Brain consists of 90% water
  • Bone consists of 22% water
  • Blood consists of 83% water

In addition, it is believed that water can play a vital role with the following 5 health benefits:

  • Weight loss
  • Younger and healthier skin
  • Helps with digestion
  • Reduces cramps and sprains
  • Relieves fatigue

Smokey the Bear may say, “Only you can prevent forest fires”,  but by the looks of the picture I bet he would add, “Water…it does a body good.”

Then God said, ‘Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.’ God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.” (Genesis 1:6-7)
