7 Wonders

The “New 7 Wonders of the World” may not be in the current headlines.  However, I do find it interesting that the 7th Wonder on this prestigious list is a statue of Jesus standing with outstretched hands on top of Corcovado Mountain, keeping watch over the city of Rio de Janeiro. It took nine years to bring this vision to fruition and now it serves as a symbol of worldwide peace.

What is newsworthy is the fact that globally Christianity is being challenged and in some countries, including the U.S.A., symbols that represent Christianity are being removed from the public view under the guise of religious freedom.   This makes me wonder what the future holds for the world’s largest art-deco statue.

However, there is a true “Wonder” that never made it to the list.  The “Wonder” of how the King of Kings gives up His throne in order to sacrificially serve you and me to the point of death.  Which leads to the next “Wonder” of Jesus resurrecting, appearing to over 500 witnesses, and then ascending back to heaven and taking His place at the right hand of God.  Taking us now to my third “Wonder” over the fact that He cares about each of the over 7 billion people on this planet so much that He even knows how many hairs are on each of our heads.  Now those are “Wonders”.
