Victoria Secret Angel Rediscovers God

Victoria Secret Angel Rediscovers God

A former Victoria Secret Angel, Kylie Bisutti, gave up her career as a model in order to get back on track with God.  Ms. Bisutti won a contest in 2009 that was run by the lingerie dynasty Victoria Secret .  Since then, she had been posing for magazines and catalogues, and touring the country to promote the brand.  Last year, however, she made headlines when she decided to quit the profession altogether, citing dedication to her husband, her faith, and her realization that she didn’t want to use her body to promote sex.  It was during a sexy shoot for a magazine when she decided it was time to quit:

“That’s when it hit me. I was being paid to strip down and pose provocatively to titillate men. It wasn’t about modeling clothes anymore; I felt like a piece of meat. The next day, I broke down and started sobbing. I was in my bedroom and dropped to my knees and started to pray. ‘God, why did you have me win the Victoria’s Secret Angel competition if it was going to make me feel this way? I’m not honoring my husband. I just want answers!’ That was two years ago. Today, I’m living in Montana with my husband, enjoying the fresh air and volunteering with our church.”

It is an amazing thing to witness when the God of All Creation changes a person’s heart.  I have heard time and time again, “You can’t change a leopard’s spots.”  My response to that statement is usually, “I agree, but through Christ Jesus anything is possible.  I mean, God made the leopard, if He wants to change his spots, He can.  So if God chooses to change a person’s path by changing their heart first, He can do that too.”

Sex Education

Fifth grade students at Onalaska Elementary School in the State of Washington just recently received an eye opening and mind disturbing, sex education lecture from their school principal.

It appears the principal thought it was a good idea to talk to these 10 and 11-year-old children about oral and anal sex during the state adopted sex education lesson.  There is no indication that the principal taught abstinence on this topic; instead she gave a graphic description as to how these acts are performed.

We sure have ventured a long way off from having our schools teach reading, writing, and arithmetic.  The idea of having our teachers handle the sex education for our children does not seem to be going so well.  Here are some disturbing statistics from Kaiser Family Foundation:

  • Genital herpes has grown by 30% in the last two decades; more than one in five people over the age of 12-45 million Americans-are now infected with this incurable viral STD.
  • The diagnosis of symptomatic genital warts has risen dramatically during the last two decades and its asymptomatic counterparts, HPV infections of the cervix and vagina, have emerged as the most common STD among young, sexually active people. While some 5.5 million new HPV infections occur each year, it is estimated that at least 20 million people have been infected with HPV.
  • Despite the availability of a vaccine, 77,000 new sexually transmitted cases of hepatitis B (HBV) occur annually; 750,000 people are now infected with sexually transmitted HBV.
  • The annual number of new HIV cases in the United States has been stable for several years, with about half of new cases-20, 000 infections per year-acquired through sexual transmission, and the majority of new cases occurring among minorities. About 560,000 people are now infected with HIV as a result of sexually transmission.

Maybe it is time we go back to the biblical foundation of how to raise our children.  Proverbs Chapter 22, Verse 6 gives parents this advice, “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Valentine’s Day

If Valentine’s Day is the only day during the year that you show your spouse special attention…we need to talk.  But that talk will take place in another blog.  Today’s blog is about sex…just kidding…but it got your attention didn’t it?  Today’s blog will take you from fantasy to genuine love.  You ready?  Here we go…

The sun nestled softly and gently into the horizon of the turquoise colored sea somewhere off the tropical island of paradise.  Two bodies lay in the sand, side by side, mesmerized by the iridescent colors that only God can create at that perfect time between day and night.

As the sun disappears, he rolls onto his side toward his wife, runs his fingers through her hair until he has the nape of her neck cradled firmly into the palm of his hand.  He then softly and deeply kisses away any troubles or sorrows she may have experienced over the course of her lifetimeWait! What?

Not many of us will have the opportunity to live out a romance novel by tomorrow, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a nice evening.  A babysitter takes the kids during dinner time at home, reservations are made at a restaurant that over looks the valley, enjoying a cup of java at the local coffee house where both of you pay complete and total attention to what the other is saying…that’s Valentine’s Day.  If you’re wealthy, spend it flying to Paris for dinner. If you are on a tight budget, share your time in the backyard drinking soda. It’s not really about the day, it’s about spending quality time with the one you love.  Enjoy each other…

                                                                                                       Happy Valentine’s Day
